Privacy Policy

In short
Deedo is a diary, not a social network. What you write, photograph or record stays on your phone and in your own iCloud. We have no access to the content of your diary. The app has no accounts, no analytics and no ads.
Only a few technical details ever leave your phone — the ones family codes and the referral reward need to work. They are listed exactly below.

What's in the diary
The diary holds information about your child and family: your child's name and date of birth, memories, milestones and little moments, photos, videos and voice recordings, the people, places and moods you add to entries, and — if you fill them in — health notes (illnesses, vaccinations), teeth, and details about the parents.
All of this is stored on your phone, in the app's private storage. We can't access it and we don't send it to any server of ours — we don't have one.
iCloud backup
With Deedo Premium, your diary is backed up to your private iCloud (a private CloudKit database run by Apple). You can turn the backup off at any time in the app's Settings. The backup belongs to you, counts towards your iCloud storage, and we can't reach it. It's how your diary comes back on a new phone with the same Apple ID.
Writing together
When you invite the other parent, the diary is shared from your iCloud using Apple's iCloud sharing. The invited person sees the whole diary and can write in it. Participants can see each other's names as they appear in their iCloud accounts. You can remove anyone or stop sharing at any time.
Family code
You can give grandparents a code that opens the diary read-only. To make this work, Deedo's public iCloud database stores, for at most 7 days, the code itself, a one-time invitation link and an expiry date. No names and no diary content. The record is deleted as soon as the code is used or expires.
Recommend Deedo
When you open Recommend Deedo, or enter someone else's referral code, Deedo's public iCloud database stores:
- your referral code,
- an anonymous iCloud identifier that Apple issues for Deedo only (not your Apple ID, name or email),
- the code you entered, and when,
- whether you purchased Premium (yes / no) and whether the reward has been credited.
This is used only to credit the person who recommended Deedo with a free year. We can see these records in the iCloud dashboard, and we'll delete them on request.
Purchases
Subscriptions and the lifetime license are sold by Apple. Payment and billing details stay with Apple — we never see them. The app checks your purchases with the App Store on your phone (for example, whether you've completed a year of Premium); this information isn't sent anywhere. You can cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings.
Sharing cards and handing the diary over
You send memory cards yourself, to whomever you choose — Deedo isn't notified. The same goes for the diary file you hand over to your child: it's created on your phone and you send it.
Apple Watch and widget
Recordings from your watch go straight to your iPhone. The home screen widget contains no diary data; it only opens recording.
What Deedo doesn't do
- collect analytics or usage statistics,
- show ads or track you across apps and websites,
- use third-party libraries that send anything anywhere,
- create accounts or require sign-up.
Permissions
Deedo asks for a permission only when it needs it: camera and photo library (photos for memories), adding to Photos (cards), microphone (recordings), Face ID or passcode (diary lock — biometrics are handled by iOS only) and notifications (reminders scheduled on your phone).
Children
Deedo is an app for parents. Entries are about a child but are kept by an adult.
Deleting your data
Delete a memory in the diary (it waits 30 days in the trash), or the whole diary in Settings → Delete entire diary. Delete the iCloud copy in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage → Deedo. We'll delete referral records on request by email.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct and delete your data, to restrict processing and to object. Referral data is processed to perform our agreement with you (crediting the reward). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Czech Office for Personal Data Protection (uoou.gov.cz) or your local authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the effective date above changes too. If a change affects where your data goes, we'll let you know in the app.
